Construction Trades Program
In 2018, The Moss School of Construction Management in FIU’s College of Engineering & Computing and the Lennar Foundation have partnered to startup the Construction Trades Certificate Program.
In 2020, the Construction Trades Certificate Program started offering Pre-Apprenticeship certification in seven different trades.
In 2022, Construction Trades Certificate Program launched a Solar Energy Technician Apprenticeship program, the is the first in the nation to which provides graduates with national credentialing in solar power construction and installation.
The community workforce development program trains workers to fill the demand for construction jobs in South Florida. The program is designed to serve South Florida communities in need of job opportunities.
Construction is among the nation’s top five industries for good jobs that do not require a bachelor’s degree. Construction work in Florida ranks among the top industries for well-paying jobs. In Florida, there are more than 141,000 construction jobs with average salaries of $52,000, and jobs are expected to grow 12 percent by 2026.
If you are at least 18 years old and don’t have a college degree, you are encouraged to apply for this program. Upon graduation, participants will have the skills needed to find entry level construction jobs in Miami, and beyond.
